Is The Pox Party, The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, Vol. 1, by M. T. Anderson (who's written lots of other great books). It recently won the 2006 National Book Award for best book published for young adults this year. It's still on order at the library so you can't get it yet, but you can get on the list.
